Chapel
The Chapel of the Village of Diagares, dedicated to Saint Anthony, was built in the mid-17th century by a noble family with the surname Pereira, linked to the Carvalhos de S. Pedro in Santa Marinha do Zêzere. After the construction of the chapel, there were plans to build a noble house on one of its side walls. However, this project was abandoned by the lords of Diagares, as their family ties were intertwined with the Pinto de Mesquita family, owners of the well-known Vila Verde house in Lousada, where they established their residence. The family crest from one of the manor houses in the village (Casa de Diagares) was also moved to the Chapel of the Casa de Vila Verde.
It is also worth noting that the chapel had a side door through which the fidalgos entered, so as not to cross paths with the common folk, who entered through the main door of the chapel.
